We Pray For The Ones Who Run Toward Trouble
Ellsworth is covered by people most of us do not think about until we need them. Police officers. Firefighters. Paramedics. Dispatchers who stay on the line with a stranger having the worst night of their life. Corrections officers, game wardens, and the crews who clear the roads after the storm. Here is how we pray for them:
- Safety on every call, and a safe trip home when the shift ends
- Wisdom and steady judgment when there is no time to think
- Peace for what they carry home and never talk about
- Strength for the spouses, children, and parents who wait up
- A real walk with Jesus Christ, not a religion they inherited

Why We Pray For Our City
I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.
And seek the peace of the city whither I have caused you to be carried away captives, and pray unto the LORD for it: for in the peace thereof shall ye have peace.
Paul told Timothy to put prayer for those in authority first, not last. Jeremiah told a people living in a city that was not their own to pray for it anyway, because their peace was tied to its peace. Ellsworth is our city. When it is safe, we are safe. When it hurts, we hurt. So we pray.
Four Ways You Can Stand With Them
Prayer is the first thing. It is not the only thing.
Pray for one by name
You probably know one. A neighbor, a cousin, someone you went to high school with. Praying for a name is different than praying for a category.
Say thank you out loud
Buy the coffee. Write the note. Tell them in the grocery store line that you are glad they do the job. Most of them hear from the public only on their worst day.
Pray with us in person
We pray together Saturday evenings at 6, except the first Saturday of the month, and we study the Word Wednesday nights at 7. You are welcome whether you attend here or not.
